Rågø Kalv is an uninhabited Danish island in Smålandsfarvandet ( German Smålandsfahrwasser ) north of the island of Lolland . The island belonged to the Ravnsborg Kommune, then Storstrøms Amt , until 2007, and since the local reform on January 1, 2007, it belonged to the Lolland Kommune in the Sjælland region .
It is located northwest in close proximity to the island of Rågø and southwest of the island of Rågø Sand . Along with Rågø Sand, the island is an important breeding and retreat area for birds such as the eider , the black-tailed gull and the oystercatcher . Since March 1999, Rågø Kalv has been part of a game reserve that includes the islands of Rågø Kalv, Rågø Sand and the marine area north-west of Rågø on an area of 497 hectares (26 hectares of which are land).
