Régis Jauffret (born June 5, 1955 in Marseille ) is a French writer . He lives in Paris .

Life

Régis Jauffret is the author of a play as well as numerous novels and short stories. Inspired by the literature of Marcel Proust , Franz Kafka , Virginia Woolfs and Truman Capotes , Jauffret tries to penetrate the spirit of his characters in his works.

He explores the innermost part of the human psyche and, in his novels, has ventured into the minds of rapists ( Histoire d'amour ) and child murderers ( Clémence Picot ).

In 2005 he was awarded the Prix ​​Femina literary prize for Asile de fous . Sévère is regarded as a literary implementation of the circumstances of the murder of one of the richest men in France, Édouard Stern .

His novel Claustria , which deals with the Austrian criminal case Josef Fritzl , was published in 2012; Jauffret had traveled to St. Pölten for research purposes for the court hearing .
