Rémy Perrier (born June 14, 1861 in Tulle , † June 27, 1936 in Chaunac ) was a French zoologist.

Life

His father, Antoine Perrier, was a teacher and director at the École supérieure de Tulle and ended his school career as director of the École normal de Moulins. His mother Jeanne Perrier was born Roche. His older brother was the zoologist and anatomist Edmond Perrier . With his wife Adrienne Perrier, nee Taillard, he has three daughters: Jeanne, Genevieve and Guilhen and seven grandchildren.

Perrier studied first in Tulle, then in Moulins and finally in Paris, where he completed his baccalauréat de lettres in 1878 . He entered the École normal supérieure in Paris in 1882 and graduated in 1884 with the licencié en physique and in 1885 the licencié en sciences naturelles . In 1894 he entered the Faculté des Sciences de Paris, where he first became a lecturer in zoology on several occasions, from 1910 he held the position of assistant professor, in 1921 he became a professor without a chair, and in 1926 he was given a chair for zoology. In 1919 he taught temporarily at Ècoles normales supérieures von Sèvres . He retired from teaching in 1931.

Scientific achievements

After receiving his doctorate in 1890 with the thesis on Recherches sur l'anatomie et l'histologie du rein des gastéropodes prosobranches (research on the anatomy and histology of the kidneys of Prosobranchia gastropods). Rémy Perrier in several collaborative works on zoology, such as the Handbuch für die Zoologie, Précis de zoologie , or more generally as the Nouveau dictionnaire des sciences et de leurs applications (1900-1903) . So he was u. a. worked with Jean-Louis Fage at the Laboratoire maritime de Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue research station. He also participated in the publications of the results of the scientific deep-sea expeditions by the research ships Travailleur and Talisman from 1880, 1881, 1882 and 1883.
