Chaunac is a French commune with a population of 78 (as at 1st January 2017) in the department of Charente-Maritime in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016 Poitou-Charentes ); it belongs to the arrondissement of Jonzac and the canton of Jonzac . The inhabitants are called Chaunacais .

Chaunac is located about 65 kilometers north-northeast of Bordeaux . Chaunac is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Fontaines-d'Ozillac in the north and north-west, Léoville in the north and north-east, Vibrac in the east and south-east, Pommiers-Moulons in the south, Expiremont in the south-west and Tugéras-Saint-Maurice in the west.
