Saint-Genis-de-Saintonge is a French commune with 1,244 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Charente-Maritime in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Jonzac and the canton of Pons (until 2015: canton of Saint-Genis-de-Saintonge ). The inhabitants are called Saint-Genésiens .

Saint-Genis-de-Saintonge is about 30 kilometers south of Saintes . Saint-Genis-de-Saintonge is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Palais-de-Phiolin in the north, Mosnac in the east and northeast, Clion in the east, Saint-Sigismond-de-Clermont in the southeast, Plassac in the south and Bois in the west.
The former route nationale 137 (today's D137) runs through the municipality .
