Chadenac is a western French community with 498 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Charente-Maritime in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine .

Chadenac is about 40 meters above sea level. d. M. at a distance of about 32 kilometers (driving distance) southeast of Saintes in the cultural landscape of the Saintonge . The capital of the canton, Pons , is about 12 kilometers northwest. Other places with impressive Romanesque churches are only a few kilometers away: Pérignac , Bougneau , Échebrune , Biron , Avy , Marignac u. a.

In the first half of the 19th century the place had around 800 inhabitants, but the number of inhabitants steadily declined due to the phylloxera crisis and the increasing mechanization of agriculture.

Agriculture (grain and wine) still plays the major role in the economic life of the small community that is part of the Fins Bois wine-growing area in the Cognac region. Since the 1970s and 1980s tourism (rental of holiday apartments) has been an important source of income for the place.
