Clérac is a southwestern French community with 977 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Charente-Maritime in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . The municipality belongs to the arrondissement Jonzac and the canton Les Trois Monts (until 2015: canton Montguyon ). The inhabitants are called Cléracais .

location

Clérac is located in the south of the Saintonge about 47 kilometers northeast of Bordeaux . Clérac is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Montlieu-la-Garde in the north and northwest, Orignolles in the north, Saint-Martin-d'Ary in the northeast, Montguyon in the east and northeast, Saint-Pierre-du-Palais in the east and northeast, Cercoux in the South, Lapouyade in the south and southwest and Bedenac in the west.
