Pierre-Percée
Moulin d'Arthus

The large limestone church, visible from afar, on the hill in the middle of the core settlement dates from the 12th century. At the end of the 15th / beginning of the 16th century, it was laterally expanded (and re-vaulted) in the north and therefore has an asymmetrical west facade. In the 16th century, the otherwise unadorned facade was given a Renaissance portal . Only the south wall still contains Romanesque elements, in particular four narrow arched windows between the mighty supporting pillars. On the north side there are three large pointed arch windows, one of them on the ground floor of the three-story bell tower . The bell tower covered by a very flat tent roof on the north side with its square floor plan has twin windows on each side on the upper floor, separated from each other by a ribbed pilaster . Inside, both the main nave and the side aisle, which runs along the north side and below the tower, are vaulted by pointed arches from the 15th century; the vaults on the first floor of the tower and in the crossing date from the 19th century. The main nave and crossing are separated from each other by a beautiful Renaissance arch. The bell dates from 1753.

Pierre-Percée

When Weiler Les Maines is at the of Archiac by Pons extending D700 and the mouth of the "Le fief des Moulins á Vent" farm track a hewn limestone, about 2.5 m high paths cross , the arms of which are, however, canceled, on an approximately 1, 4 m high stone block through which a round hole about 70 cm in diameter was carved - the so-called Pierre-Percée (the pierced stone) (location: 45 ° 32 ′ 32 ″  N , 0 ° 20 ′ 44 ″  W ). The cross probably dates from the 19th century. According to local lore, young people who crawled through the hole got married within a year.

Windmill d'Arthus

The three-storey substructure of the Moulin d'Arthus tower windmill, built in the 19th century on a vineyard west of the core settlement, is made of hewn limestone (location: 45 ° 31 ′ 42 ″  N , 0 ° 22 ′ 15 ″  W ). The rotating, wooden tower dome with its four wings was only rebuilt and put on in 2009. From the vantage point there you have a wide view of the surrounding landscape.
