Neighboring municipalities of Saint-Maigrin are Saint-Ciers-Champagne in the north, Montmérac with Lamérac in the east, Baignes-Sainte-Radegonde in the south, Mortiers in the southwest and Saint-Germain-de-Vibrac in the west.

The municipality is crossed in an east-west direction by the small river Tâtre , which is dammed in the eastern section to the "Étang de Saint-Maigrin". The privately owned Château de Saint-Maigrin is on the north bank of the reservoir .
