The Réserve écologique des Dunes-de-Berry is a 259.02 hectare protected area in the west of the Canadian province of Québec , in the Canton de Berry , around 45 km northwest of Amos .

The park is located between Lac Chicobi and Lac Berry and represents the dune landscapes there that were created after the last ice age as part of the province's protected area system in the regional county municipality of Abitibi .

The dry landscape of the only slightly migrating dunes is characterized by plants such as black spruce and inhabitants of dry grass landscapes such as the rare Hudsonia tomentosa . The sand of the Dunes of Berry comes from an esker , an often kilometer-long deposit of gravel and sand that was created by subglacial meltwater. Since the glaciers only formed an extremely thin layer of vegetation during the long melting phase, the dunes remained in motion for a long time after their formation. In the lee of the Esker, large dunes were created, which were constantly filled with new sand by the prevailing westerly wind. The forests are dominated by the American white birch or paper birch , but alder , black spruce and Banks pine also occur.

Below the layer of sand there is a layer of clay that carries water.

In the region, the dunes of the Moraine-d'Harricana are also strictly protected as a Réserve écologique .
