Amos is a city in the south of the Canadian province of Quebec . The city is located on the Harricana River in the regional county municipality ( municipalité régionale de comté ) Abitibi . It was founded in 1910 after natural resources were discovered in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue area .
The highways Route 109 (Québec) and Route 111 (Québec) and Quebec Route 395 run through the city .
In 1938 the Roman Catholic Diocese of Amos was established, the main church of which is the Sainte-Thérèse-d'Avila Cathedral .
