Roger Ébacher

Roger Ébacher (born October 6, 1936 in Amos ) is a Canadian clergyman and retired Archbishop of Gatineau .

Life

Roger Ébacher was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Amos on May 27, 1961 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Hauterive on June 30, 1979 . The Archbishop of Rimouski , Gilles Ouellet PME , donated him episcopal ordination on July 31 of the same year ; Co - consecrators were Jean-Guy Couture , Bishop of Chicoutimi , and Gérard Drainville , Bishop of Amos.

He was named Bishop of Gatineau-Hull on March 30, 1988, and was installed in office on May 6 of the same year. With the elevation to the archbishopric on October 31, 1990 he was appointed Archbishop of Gatineau-Hull. On October 12, 2011, Pope Benedict XVI. the resignation put forward by Roger Ébacher for reasons of age.
