The Río Anzu is the approximately 77 km long right source river of the Río Napo in the provinces of Pastaza and Napo in Ecuador .

River course

The Río Anzu rises on the eastern flank of the Cordillera Real at an altitude of about 1600  m . The headwaters are 15 km northwest of Puyo . The Río Anzu initially flows 10 km south-southeast. The river then turns north-northeast and flows along the foot of the mountains. At river kilometer 30 he passes the municipality of Santa Clara . Below this, the E45 (Puyo– Tena ) road follows the course of the river . Finally, the Río Anzu joins 5.5 km south of the city of Tena with the Río Jatunyacu coming from the west to form the Río Napo.

Catchment area

The Río Anzu drains the eastern flank of the Cordillera Real between the river valleys of the Río Pastaza in the south and that of the Río Jatunyacu in the north over a length of 17 km. The catchment area covers an area of ​​around 790 km².
