The Rio Negro is a river in Argentina about 637 kilometers long.

It arises from the confluence of the Limay and Neuquén near the city of the same name Neuquén . From there it flows eastwards across Patagonia and receives no further noteworthy tributaries up to its mouth. Above Choele Choel , the river splits into two arms, forming several large islands, and then reuniting to form a river bed below Choele Choel. It then flows in a south-easterly direction and flows into the Atlantic about 30 kilometers downstream from Viedma .

With the Neuquén as its source river, the Rio Negro reaches a total length of 1147 kilometers. However, seen Hydrologically is slightly shorter Limay the main flow, as its average discharge rate of 726 m 3 / s m of Neuquén with only 296 3 / s considerably exceeds them.
