Choele Choel is the capital of the Avellaneda department in the Río Negro province in southern Argentina . It is located on the left bank of the Río Negro opposite the Isla Grande de Choele Choel . The Río Negro forms the fertile Valle Medio in this zone .

history

Choele Choel was founded on July 9, 1879 by the Coronel Conrado Villegas on behalf of the then Minister of War Julio Argentino Roca .
