El Bolsón website

El Bolsón is a small town in southern Argentina , in the Patagonia region . El Bolsón is located in the province of Río Negro in the department of Bariloche .

Located in an Andean valley , it is mainly known as a tourist center and is one of the strongholds of backpacking in Argentina.

history

The Patagonian Andean forests were only settled after the last ice age around 14,000 years ago. The first people who settled here belonged to the nomadic Indian people of the Tsonek . In winter they migrated to the climatically more favorable lake region. In summer and autumn they hunted guanacos . Little is known about the Tsonek from the time before the Spanish conquest in the 16th century. However, their culture was more and more influenced by the Mapuche Indians coming from the west .

Trivia

El Bolsón is home to one of the world's two breweries outside Germany that produce smoked beer according to the Bamberg brewing method.
