Rósa Björk Brynjólfsdóttir (born February 9, 1975 in Hafnarfjörður ) is an Icelandic journalist and politician ( left-green movement ).

Life

Rósa Björk Brynjólfsdóttir graduated from the Icelandic Guide School Leiðsöguskóla Íslands as a tourist guide and holds a Bachelor's degree in French and Media Studies from the University of Iceland . Among other things, she worked as a guide in the Icelandic highlands , then in the program planning of various Icelandic radio stations, as a reporter for the Internet portal mbl.is for the newspaper Morgunblaðið , news editor for the French international television network France 24 and Iceland correspondent for various international television stations such as Al Jazeera , TF1 and BBC . In 2005 and 2006 she was the editor of the Icelandic women's political magazine 19. júní . From 2010 to 2014 Rósa Björk was press spokeswoman for the Icelandic Ministry of Finance and from 2015-2016 parliamentary group secretary of the Left-Green movement .

After previously serving as deputy deputy ( varaþingmaður ), she was elected to the Icelandic parliament Althing as a candidate of the left-green movement for the south-western constituency in the parliamentary elections in Iceland in 2016 . She was re-elected in the early parliamentary election on October 28, 2017 . She and Andrés Ingi Jónsson then voted against the coalition talks of the Left-Green movement with the Independence Party and the Progress Party . However, they remained in the left-green parliamentary group even after the government coalition was formed.

As of June 2020, Rósa Björk Brynjólfsdóttir is a member of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Committee on Business Affairs. Since 2017 she has chaired the Icelandic delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). She is rapporteur for PACE on "Stopping violence against and exploitation of migrant children " and in this role called on European governments in May 2020 to take measures to support internally displaced children in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic .
