The sensation was built under hull number NB 484 in the Kværner Masa Yards shipyard in Helsinki and was launched on October 23, 1993. After the delivery to Carnival Cruise Lines on October 18, 1993 and the official christening in Miami on November 13, 1993, the ship was put into service on November 21, and from then on it undertook cruises to the Caribbean from Miami .
The sensation was registered in Liberia until 2000 , before Nassau became its new home port. From September 2005 to March 2006, the ship was chartered to the Federal Emergency Management Agency to be used as temporary shelter for relief workers and residents who became homeless after Hurricane Katrina . 2007 was a sensation as part of renovation work, like all ships in the fleet of the shipping company Carnival as a suffix and has since been called Carnival Sensation .
The ship was stationed in Port Canaveral until February 2018 , before moving to Miami, where it took the place of the Carnival Victory . In 2019 it ran to Cuba several times .
