The Carnival Fascination is a ship on the Carnival Cruise Line . It was the fourth of a total of eight Fantasy- class ships to enter service.

history

The ship was built under hull number 487 as a Fascination at the Finnish shipyard Kvaerner Masa Yards AB in Helsinki . The order for the building was placed in September 1991. In 1993 the keel was laid and on June 27, 1994 it was handed over to Carnival Cruise Lines, based in Monrovia , Liberia . Almost four weeks later, on July 24, 1994, the Fascination arrived in New York and was christened shortly before the maiden voyage on October 1, 1994 by the wife of the interior designer of the Carnival fleet, Jeanne Farcus. From the fall of 1994, San Juan in Puerto Rico was the starting port for the ship's cruises.

In 2000, the Panamanian-flagged ship was re-registered to the flag of the Bahamas with its home port of Nassau . The cruises started from Jacksonville , Florida in the following years .

Renovation 2006

In September 2006, the ship was renovated on a multi-million dollar budget. New LCD screens were installed in the 1,026 cabins, the bathrooms and furniture were renewed. The "Coconut Grove Bar and Grill" received new carpets and upholstered furniture. The imagination and sensation dining rooms also received new carpets, upholstered furniture and a new sound system. In addition, a new bar called the “Grand Atrium Bar” was built on the “Empress Deck”. A new café called “Café on the Way” was built on the promenade deck. A mini 9-hole golf course was created on the sun deck. For the children, a 150 m² “Childrens World” and the “Club O2” have been installed on the “Veranda Deck”. An art gallery opens on the “Embress Deck”, the exhibits of which can be bought on board during auctions. The 1,100 m² SPA area has also been renovated, private treatment rooms have been set up and the whirlpool spas have been removed. In future, these can be found on the “Lido Deck” and the “Veranda Deck”. The stage next to the main pool area on the “Lido Deck” also received a new sound system.

In November 2007 the ship was renamed Carnival Fascination .

Renovation 2010

Between January and February 2010 the ship was modernized again. A further 98 cabins and suites were given a balcony and the restaurants were rebuilt and partially expanded. Only adult passengers have access to the rear of the promenade deck, which is modeled on a tropical environment.

From October 2017 to January 2018, the ship will be chartered by FEMA and used as accommodation in the wake of Hurricane Irma .

In 2020 the ship, like her sister ship Carnival Imagination , was launched on a long-term basis.
