Dalnic (outdated Dalnoc ; Hungarian Dálnok , German Dayla ) is a municipality in the Covasna district , in the Transylvania region in Romania .
Geographical location
The place Dalnic is located west of the Kronstadt depression (Depresiunea Brașovului) , in the southeastern foothills of the Bodoc Mountains (Munții Bodoc) - a part of the Eastern Carpathian Mountains . In the so-called Szeklerland in the center of the Covasna district is the place Dalnic on the stream of the same name, a right tributary of the Râul Negru . Located two kilometers west of the national road DN11 , the place is 15 kilometers southwest of the small town of Târgu Secuiesc (Szekler Neumarkt) and about 25 kilometers northeast of the district capital Sfântu Gheorghe (Sankt Georgen) .
history
Dalnic, which is mostly inhabited by Szeklern people, was first mentioned in a document in 1332. According to Márton Roska, however, archaeological finds on the area known by the locals as the Tonorok at the confluence of the Dalnic and Kanta streams indicate that the area was settled as early as the Neolithic . Numerous finds in the municipality point to different ages and are in the museum of the district capital Sfântu Gheorghe.
At the time of the Kingdom of Hungary , Brețcu belonged to the Kézdi chair district in the Háromszék County ( Romanian Comitatul Trei-Scaune ), then to the historical Trei-Scaune district (German three chairs ) and from 1950 to the present Covasna district.
Dalnic became an independent municipality in early 2004 when it was separated from the Moacșa municipality.

The church could be a renovation of an older church or a completely new church, because during restoration work in 1978, Gothic and Romanesque details emerged. At the same time, murals were also discovered. The connecting part between the church and the tower was built later. The bell tower was built in 1922 to replace an older one. In a description from 1675 it is mentioned that the church was surrounded by a curtain wall.
