Brăduț [ ˈbrədut͡s ] ( Hungarian Bardóc ) is a municipality in Covasna County , in the Transylvania region in Romania .

The place is also known by the Romanian outdated names Barduț and Bardoț .

Geographical location

The municipality of Brăduț is located in the northeastern foothills of the Perșani Mountains (Munții Perșani) in the historic Szeklerland . In the northwest of the Covasna district on the Cormoş brook - a right tributary of the Olt (Alt) - and the municipal road (Drum comunal) DC 42, the Otr Brăduț is seven kilometers north of the small town of Baraolt and about 60 kilometers (32 km as the crow flies) north of the district capital Sfântu Gheorghe (Sankt Georgen) .

Of the almost 170 km², 8504 hectares are forested and 7892 hectares are used for agriculture .

In addition to the mineral water springs in the municipality are on the site of several incorporated villages Doboşeni and Filia occurrence of limonite and diatomaceous earth .

history

The place Brăduț, mostly inhabited by Szeklern people, was first mentioned in a document in 1333.

In a settlement of its territory in the Neolithic period indicates a hillside grave on Mount Tortoma . As on the area of ​​the town of Brăduț, archaeological finds from the Neolithic and Bronze Age were also found on that of the incorporated village of Doboșeni ( Székelyszáldobos in Hungarian ), Filia ( Erdőfüle in Hungarian ) and Tălișoara ( Olasztelek in Hungarian ) .

At the time of the Kingdom of Hungary , today's place belonged to the Homoród district in Udvarhely County (Oderhellen County) , then to the historical Odorhei district and then to today's Covasna district.

Since 1850, the highest number of inhabitants was recorded in the municipality of Brăduț in 2011. The highest number of Magyars was registered (4,140) in 1992, Romanians (380) in 1930, Roma (639) in 2011 and Romanian Germans (74) in 1880.

  • The Orthodox Church in the incorporated village of Doboșeni, built in 1920 and renovated in 1940, is a listed building.

  • In Tălișoara, the manor house of the former Hungarian noble family Daniel Mihály , built in 1669 and rebuilt in 1884 according to the register of historical monuments of the Romanian Ministry of Culture and National Heritage (Ministerul Culturii și Patrimoniului Național) , is a listed building. After the expropriation , the property was used by state enterprises for various purposes. After the revolution in 1989 , the property was returned to the rightful heirs, who sold it and the new owners, with the help of European funds, converted the property into a hotel.
  • In the incorporated village of Filia, the country house Ferenczy-Boda built in 1713 and rebuilt in 1826. The property is a listed building, but is in poor condition.
