Dobârlău old spelling Dobîrlău [ ˈdobɨrləu ] ( German Dobersdorf , Hungarian Dobolló ) is a municipality in the Covasna district , in the Transylvania region in Romania .
Geographical location
The municipality of Dobârlău is located in the southwestern foothills of the Întorsura Mountains - a part of the Eastern Carpathians - southeast of the Transylvanian Basin . On the creek of the same name in the south of the Covasna district and the district road (Drum județean) DJ 103B, the place Dobârlău is located 20 kilometers south of the district capital Sfântu Gheorghe (Sankt Georgen) .
history
Dobârlău, which is mostly inhabited by Romanians, was first mentioned in a document in 1749. Archaeological finds are not recorded in the municipality.
At the time of the Kingdom of Hungary Dobârlău belonged to the Sepsi district in the Háromszék County ( Romanian Comitatul Trei-Scaune ). Subsequently, Micfalău belonged to the historical Trei-Scaune (German three chairs ) and from 1950 to today's Covasna district.
population
In 1850 there were 1576 inhabitants in the area of today's Dobârlău municipality. 1440 were Romanians , 59 of them were Magyars and 77 were Roma . Between 1966 and 1992 one Romanian German was also registered. In 2011, of the 2135 people in the municipality, 2063 Romanians, 20 Roma, 11 Magyars, two Romanian Germans and the rest did not provide any information about their ethnicity.
Since the first census in 1850, the highest number of Romanians (2,452) and Roma (234) was recorded in 1977, Magyars (80) in 1880 and that of Romanian Germans in 2011.
Attractions
- According to the register of historical monuments of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage (Ministerul Culturii și Patrimoniului Național) the orthodox church Adormirea Maicii Domnului was built in 1795 in the community center and a church was built in the 15th century in the incorporated village of Mărcuș (Markesdorf).
- Monastery in Mărcuș reopened in 1958 and 1991.
