Charles Cresson

Charles Clement Cresson (born March 23, 1874 in San Antonio , Texas , † February 27, 1949 there ) was an American tennis player .

biography

Charles Cresson joined the 1904 Summer Olympics in St. Louis in the men's singles and -double on. In the individual he was able to advance through a victory and a walk-through to the quarter-finals, where he was finally defeated by his compatriot Robert LeRoy . In doubles he was also eliminated after a victory with his partner Semp Russ in the round of 16 against the eventual Olympic champions Edgar Leonard and Beals Wright .

Cresson studied at Princeton and Columbia Law School . He then worked as a lawyer and US district attorney. From 1917 until his death in 1949 he served as a professional soldier in the army, where he rose to the rank of Colonel . He was buried at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in his hometown.
