Chichiș [ ˈciciʃ ] ( Hungarian Kökös ) is a municipality in Covasna County , in the Transylvania region in Romania .
Geographical location
The municipality of Chichiș is located southeast of the Transylvanian Basin in the Kronstadt Depression (Depresiunea Brașovului) in the historic Szeklerland . In the southwest of the circle Covasna the river Râul Negru (Schwarzenbach) is Chichis located at the mouth of the national road drum naţional 12 in the drum naţional 11 and the railway line Braşov-Sfântu Gheorghe-Târgu Secuiesc 12 kilometers south of the circle capital Sfântu Gheorghe (Saint Georgen) away.
history
The place Chichiș was first mentioned in a document in 1461.
According to the archaeologist Zoltán Székely , archaeological finds on the area, known by the locals as După anini (Hungarian Egermege ; in German Behind the Alder ), point to prehistory . Finds from the Bronze and Roman Ages can be found in the Muzeul Național Secuiesc (Szekler National Museum) in the district capital of Sfântu Gheorghe.
At the time of the Kingdom of Hungary Chichiş belonged to the Sepsi chair district in the Háromszék County ( Romanian Comitatul Trei-Scaune ). Subsequently, Micfalău belonged to the historical Trei-Scaune (German three chairs ) and from 1950 to today's Covasna district.
In 2014, 78% of households in the community center were connected to the drinking network and around 70% to the sewage network. Since the sewer system was in poor condition, most households had their own septic tanks . In the incorporated village of Băcel (in Hungarian : Kökösbácstelek ) there was no drinking or sewage network.

Since 1850, the highest number of inhabitants in the area of today's municipality was determined in 1966. The highest number of Magyars (1,310) and Romanian Germans (8) were registered in 1941, Romanians in 1930 and Roma (22) in 1850.
Attractions
- According to the register of historical monuments of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage (Ministerul Culturii și Patrimoniului Național) the Unitarian Church , built in the 13th century and renovated in 1716, and six wooden houses near the church are listed in the community center.
- In the community center the wooden church Sf. Petru și Pavel 1740, the reformed church , built in 1799 and the wooden house of the Orthodox priest , are listed as historical monuments.

Chichiș maintains partnerships with the Hungarian towns of Bucsa in Békés county and Olaszfalu in Veszprém county .
