history

Reci (bottom left) in the Josephine land survey from 1769 to 1773.

Reci, which is mostly inhabited by Szeklern people, was first mentioned in documents in 1332 or 1334, according to different sources. A settlement of the municipality on the area of the locals called Sălașul Românilor (Hungarian Oláhüles ) in the incorporated village of Aninoasa and in the community center at Câmpia Turcilor (Hungarian Törökrétje ) were dated to the Neolithic . Numerous archaeological finds were assigned to the Neolithic, Bronze Age and Iron Age and are mostly in the museum in Sfântu Gheorghe.

At the time of the Kingdom of Hungary , today's municipality belonged to the Kézdi and Sepsi chair district in the Háromszék County ( Romanian Comitatul Trei-Scaune ), then to the historical district of Trei-Scaune (in German three chairs ) and from 1950 to the current district of Covasna.

In 1964, the former village of Comolău was merged with Reci, so that Comolău (Hungarian Komló ) is now the left part of the community center.

The municipality's economy is mainly based on agriculture (growing corn, oats, and potatoes), ranching, and a low level of commercial activity.

In 2016, only 56% of the households in the municipality were connected to the drinking and wastewater network.
