Boroșneu Mare [ ˈboroʃneu ˈmare ] (outdated Boroșnăul Mare ; German Groß-Weindorf , Hungarian Nagyborosnyó ) is a municipality in the Covasna district , in the Transylvania region in Romania .
Geographical location
The municipality of Boroșneu Mare is located in the northwestern foothills of the Întorsura Mountains - a part of the Eastern Carpathian Mountains . At the mouth of the Valea Mare creek in the Covasna , two kilometers south of the Drum național 13E and the railway line Brașov – Sfântu Gheorghe – Târgu Secuiesc , Boroşneu Mare is 14 kilometers west of the small town of Covasna and about 20 kilometers east of the district capital Sfântu Gheorghe (Sankt Georgen) away.
history
Boroșneu Mare, which is mostly inhabited by Magyars, was first mentioned in a document in 1332 or 1372, according to different sources.
A settlement on the grounds of the community center indicated by the archaeological the fort Boroşneu Mare to the Roman times back. According to Márton Roska, archaeological finds from the Neolithic Age were assigned to the area Dealul Cetății ( Várhegy in Hungarian ), which the locals call it . Also on the area of the incorporated village of Țufalău (Hungarian Cófalva ) settlements have been dated to the Neolithic and Bronze Age. Furthermore, in the area of the incorporated village Boroşneu Mic (small wine village ) numerous archaeological finds were assigned to different ages, most of which are in the museum of the district capital. According to the Register of Historic Monuments of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage (Ministerul Culturii şi Patrimoniului Naţional) were on the site Cetatea Viezurei (Hungarian Borzvára ) in Boroşneu Mic and in the unincorporated village LET (Hungarian Lécfalva ) on the mountain Dealul Cetăţii (Hungarian Várhegy ) , a hill of about 575 m , assigned to settlements of the Neolithic and the Bronze Age.
At the time of the Kingdom of Hungary Boroșneu Mare belonged to the Sepsi chair district in the Háromszék County ( Romanian Comitatul Trei-Scaune ). Subsequently, Micfalău belonged to the historical Trei-Scaune (German three chairs ) and from 1950 to today's Covasna district.

Since 1850, the highest number of inhabitants (5001) in the area of Boroșneu Mare was determined in 1910. The highest number of Magyars (3994) was registered in 1941, that of Romanians (1082) in 1920, that of Roma (254) in 1956 and that of Romanian Germans in 1930.
Attractions
- In the incorporated village of Dobolii de Sus (Hungarian Feldoboly ) the reformed church built in 1667 and renovated in 1773 is a listed building.
- In the incorporated village of Țufalău, the country house of the Hungarian aristocratic Veress family , built in 1794, is a listed building.
- On the northern edge of the community center, the Boroșneu Mare fort , clearly visible in the area, is a listed building.
