Sanzieni [ sɨnzienʲ ] ( Hungarian Kézdiszentlélek , Hungarian pronunciation : keːzdisɛntleːlɛk ) is a commune in Covasna County , in the region of Transylvania in Romania . It consists of four villages: Sânzieni, Cașinu Mic (Kiskászon) , Petriceni (Kézdikővár) and Valea Seacă (Kézdiszárazpatak) .
The municipality is located in the Szeklerland and is almost entirely inhabited by Hungarian-speaking ethnic groups. It belonged to Hungary until it became part of Romania in 1920 with the Treaty of Trianon .
Attractions
- The Roman Catholic fortified church at the foot of the Perkő Mountain has Gothic and Baroque fittings. The altar is dated to 1685. The church encloses a protective wall with bastions, which in 1730 because of the Tatars was built -Kriege.
- The Stephen's Chapel (ung. Szent István Kápolna ) is a medieval chapel on the mountain Perko . It contains a fresco in the altar area, other ceiling paintings are waiting to be restored.
Important festivals
Every year on August 20th the St. Stephen's Festival (Szent Istvàna Ünnep) is celebrated. Several thousand festival visitors climb the mountain Perkő where a service takes place in front of the chapel.
