Masclus graffito

In 1946 an outbuilding of the villa was completely excavated. It was a burned down house, in the cellar of which fragments of wall paintings were found, stylistically dated to the early 3rd century. During the recovery, a wall scribble was found that had never been completed: " MASCLUS PERMISIT NATO TRAN " (Masclus allowed his son to cross over ...) . It remains unclear whether Masclus and his son were residents of the villa.
