Röthner Schlösschen

The Röthner Schlösschen residence is located in the southern part of Röthis (Vorarlberg) and today serves as a municipal office . The property is under monument protection ( list entry ).

history

The residence was built in the late 15th or 16th century by the Feldkirch patrician family of the Litscher. These were wealthy in Röthis and in 1489 Salomon Litscher was raised to the baron status. Before 1628, the castle was owned by the Frey von Schönstein family, who were related by marriage to the Litscher family. Anton Frey was the imperial postmaster in Lindau in 1685. The Freys commissioned z. B. the grisaille architectural paintings in the hall on the second floor and in the last third of the 17th century an early baroque coffered ceiling made of stone pine. In 1777 Euphrosina Frey died unmarried as the last representative of the family in Röthis. Until 1836, the Röthner Schlösschen was owned by the Clessin family from Feldkirch, who were also related by marriage. Around 1980 the mansion, already threatened by decay, was acquired by the Röthis community and completely restored. The municipal administration has been housed here since then.

architecture

The raised hide is a three-storey, cubic rectangular building with a clearly protruding gable roof. A three-storey square stair tower is attached to the street-side western gable front. Originally it had small, slit-like sandstone windows, most of which were enlarged during the last renovation. Its top floor is a frame construction with a hipped roof.

A round arch portal on the ground floor leads to the barrel-vaulted cellar. The simple, modern rectangular windows of the main building have been changed several times over the years and some have folded stone frames. On the east side there is a wide flat bay window with window hatches on the first and second floors. A painted sundial from 1676 with the Litscher-Breysach and Frey von Schönstein coats of arms has been preserved on the south side. During the last renovation in the northeast, a wooden stable building was replaced by a modern extension.

The main house has a barrel vaulted hallway with stitch caps on the ground floor . The staircase has a simple field ceiling from the 17th century, as does the hallway on the second floor. In the southwest corner room on the second floor there is a rococo stucco ceiling with flame-like rocailles . The renaissance doors are only partially preserved.
