Röttenbach Forest

The Röttenbacher Wald is a contiguous forest area in Middle Franconia in the municipal areas of the Markt Pleinfeld in the Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen district and of Röttenbach in the Roth district . Until the municipal reform in Bavaria, the forest was a municipality-free area .

Parts of the forest are in an FFH area , a landscape protection area and a bird sanctuary . The forest area is located northeast of Pleinfeld, between the eponymous place Röttenbach in the northwest and Heideck in the east. The forest is bordered by Bundesstraße 2 to the west. Several hiking and cycling trails run through the forest.
