The Good Röttgen is under monument protection standing former farmhouse in Wuppertal District Langer Field Beyenburg ( Schwelmer Road 200 ) at the foot of Ehrenberg .

Building description

The two-storey main house was built in half-timbered construction with slated facades and provided with a saddle roof.

The facade on the front side facing the street is laid out on four axes. On the ground floor, next to a house entrance door with a roof, there is a niche that is now partially closed in the north-eastern corner of the building. The windows on the upper floor have been given different formats, which, according to the lower monument authority, indicates different construction phases.

The western gable wall is structured in three axes, with the structure system in the basement being interrupted on the right by three small-format windows in a horizontal row.

The eastern gable wall with the entrance to the shop in the central axis is designed in three axes, with another window being added later on the left on the ground floor.

At the rear of the building, in the south-west and south, two single-storey extensions were built, some of which serve as an extension of the guest room.

history

Gut Röttgen was first mentioned in the 17th century and operated as a dairy farm in the 18th century.

The existing main house was built at the beginning of the 19th century on the old connecting road between Langerfeld and Schwelm and is one of the oldest surviving buildings along this arterial road. In 1885 seven people lived in one house in Röttgen.

The building was expanded around 1890 and has been used as an excursion restaurant and restaurant ever since. In the first half of the 20th century, Langerfeld airfield was located below on the slope . On May 13, 1993, the original manor house was placed under monument protection as a typical example of 19th century architecture.
