Rüdiger Heim

Rüdiger Heim (* 1959 ) is a German sports scientist and university professor.

Life

Heim graduated from the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster between 1979 and 1986 with a degree in sports science, German and educational science. In 1986 he passed his first state examination for teaching at upper secondary level and then went on to study for a doctorate. In 1991 Heim received the second state examination for teaching and a doctorate .

From 1992 to 2001 he worked at the Institute for Sports Science at the Free University of Berlin as a research assistant or research assistant. In 2000 he completed his habilitation at the University of Paderborn .

In the period between 2001 and 2004, Heim held a professorship and a professor for sports education, sports didactics and sports sociology at the Institute for Sports Science at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg . In 2004 he took up a professorship for “Sport and Education” at the Institute for Sport and Sport Science at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg and became director of the institute.

Between 2004 and 2006 he held the office of spokesman for the sports education section at the German Association for Sports Science . In 2007 Heim became a member of the working group "Educational standards for sport" on behalf of the Sport Commission of the Conference of Ministers of Education . Since 2017 he has also been the editor-in-chief of the journal for sports pedagogical research and has been a member of the journal's editorial collective since 2012.

The focal points of Heim's academic work include research work in the field of children's and youth sports (including high-performance sports in adolescence), school sports, aspects of the profession of sports teacher and the relationship between competitive sports and school.

In addition, he dealt extensively with the theoretical basics of sports science and the study of sports science.
