RIS - The Language of the Dead is a German television series that was broadcast on Sat.1 from 2007 to 2008 . It is an adaptation of the Italian series RIS - Delitti imperfetti from 2005. Due to low audience ratings, the series was discontinued after the first season.

action

The RIS team begins its work where normal police work no longer gets anywhere. Murders are solved using the most modern scientific methods. The team members are among the best in their field, and they seem to understand the language of the dead. For many a defendant, they are the last chance for justice. The real perpetrators are convicted with highly developed techniques and methods, as well as with excellent knowledge in numerous specialist areas. To ensure justice, the Forensic Medicine Investigative Special Commission, or RIS for short, was founded in Berlin.

concept

The team of the " Forensic Investigative Special Commission " (RIS) is a group made up of forensics specialists from a wide variety of disciplines, whose tasks cover all aspects of forensic work.

Characters

Philip Jacobi

Philip Jacobi ( Julian Weigend ) is the head of RIS. The molecular geneticist exudes a natural authority and expects top performance from his employees. Philip has lived almost exclusively in his working world since his wife Jeanette, an archaeologist , was killed in a plane bomb on a return flight from one of her expeditions.

Marie Severin

Marie Severin ( Jana Klinge ) is a biologist and computer scientist and therefore a specialist in everything that has to do with computers. She is new to the team and has yet to prove herself. There seems to be no place in her life for men, because she lets any advances on her bounce off. The reason for this is a rape two years ago, of which only Philip Jacobi knows, to whom she has been drawn from the beginning.

Timo Braun

Timo Braun ( Tillbert Strahl-Schäfer ), the team's ballistics specialist, is a womanizer. Nevertheless, he knows how to set his priorities and how to attach the right importance to his job, which he always does professionally.

Judith Karimi

Judith Karimi ( Proschat Madani ), chemist , has been an unconditional perfectionist since childhood. Accordingly, she went through school and university in record time. She feels comfortable among her colleagues, who are also the best in their respective fields, although they sometimes suffer a little from her limitless zeal.

Paul Schneider

Paul Schneider ( Hansa Czypionka ) is a legend in his field and the author of basic standard works. The biologist and molecular geneticist joined the police after his daughter was run over by a traffic hooligan and has been in a wheelchair ever since. The perpetrator was never caught.

Dr. Stefanie Peters

Stefanie Peters ( Nicole Marischka ) is the coroner of the RIS. She is always with humor and care in the matter. Sometimes, in addition to her job, she also has to help her husband, who is raising their child at home.

Benno Wilms

Benno Wilms ( Denis Petkovic ) is the direct link between the RIS and the criminal police .

Katja Fried

Katja Fried ( Catherine Bode ) comes from a difficult social background. Against pressure and ridicule from outside, she asserted her wish to become a police officer . This uncompromising approach characterizes her work to this day.

Marcus Heuser

Marcus Heuser ( Mathis Künzler ) is a forensic technician and terrorism expert in the RIS team and has been with the team since June 3, 2007.
