RK Kumar

RK Kumar ( Raghavachari Krishna Kumar ; * August 7, 1942 ; † October 3, 1999 ) was an Indian politician of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), who was a member of the Rajya Sabha from 1996 until his death in 1999 and in 1998 was Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance for two months.

Life

After attending school, Kumar completed a degree in commercial management , which he completed with a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.), And another degree in law , which he completed with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.). He then worked as an auditor at the auditing agency Mohinder Puri and Co. since 1969 . In the meantime, from 1983 to 1986 he was also director of the state-owned Canara Bank , headquartered in Bangalore .

In the mid-1990s, Kumar began his political involvement in All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), a regional party in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu that was formed in 1972 . For this he became a member of the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian parliament on April 3, 1996 , to which he belonged until his death on October 3, 1999.

On March 19, 1998, Kumar was appointed Minister of State for Banking in the Ministry of Finance in the second government by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and held this office until May 22, 1998. He was considered a close confidante of J. Jayalalithaa , the chairman of the AIADMK and several times Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu .

His marriage to Chandini Kumar had a son and a daughter.
