RK Lovćen Cetinje ( Rukometni klub Lovćen Cetinje ) is a Montenegrin handball club from Cetinje .

history

The club was founded in 1949. The club quickly developed into the flagship of Montenegrin handball and representative of the entire region; in the Yugoslav league, however, the club behind the capital clubs RK Red Star Belgrade and RK Partizan Belgrade always had a hard time. It was not until the turn of the millennium that the club celebrated its national breakthrough: In the 1997/98 season, they finished second in the championship and made it to the final of the cup. The first championship followed in 2000, the double in 2001. In the years that followed, the club was one of the top national teams and regularly qualified for the European Cup.

After the independence of Montenegro in 2006, the club played in the Montenegrin league and promptly became champions and cup winners. In 2007 they lost in the EHF Cup in the first round against the Luxembourg club from Dudelange with 30:30 and 34:35. They missed a second round match against Madeira from Portugal.
