RK Red Star Belgrade (full official name in Serbian : Рукометни клуб Црвена звезда, Rukometni Klub Crvena Zvezda ) is the handball department of Red Star Belgrade , a Serbian sports club from the capital, Belgrade, founded in 1945 .
history
The club has actually existed since 1945 , but the handball department was only launched on October 1, 1948 . Similar to the football and basketball division , the handball division quickly became a serial champion and has remained so to this day. In contrast to other teams such as Metaloplastika Šabac , Borac Banja Luka or Partizan Bjelovar , the club never won an international title. The greatest success in the recent club history was the entry into the semi-finals of the European Cup Winners' Cup 1995/96. In the meantime they are still way ahead of the other teams in the Serbian league, but have even fewer chances internationally than before. In the EHF Champions League season 2006/07, the club was eliminated in the group stage.
