Red Star Belgrade
Red Star (full official name in Serbian: СД Црвена звезда or Спортско друштво Црвена звезда, SD Crvena Zvezda or Sportsko društvo Crvena Zvezda , of fans with ЦЗБГ sprayed tag on walls; German : sports club Red Star) - in German-speaking countries also known as the Red Star Belgrade - is one of the two top sports clubs in the Serbian capital, Belgrade , alongside Partizan Belgrade . Founded on March 4, 1945, Red Star Belgrade today has sports clubs in 25 different sports . The club is best known for its soccer team , basketball team , water polo team , handball team and volleyball team . In addition to numerous national titles, the sports club has also won several times at European level.
history
The association was founded on March 4, 1945 under the name of youth community for physical culture with seven sports departments ( chess , athletics , basketball , soccer , swimming , rowing and volleyball ). On October 12, 1946, the club merged with the student sports club . In 1948 the individual departments were converted into independent associations that have been operating autonomously since 1949. The umbrella organization was renamed SD Red Star in the course of the split .
