RTVi (Russian Television International; Russian: РТВи) is an independent Russian-language private television broadcaster that delivers full programming to viewers in Europe, North America and the Middle East. Overall, the station is aimed at over 6 million Russian-speaking citizens in Germany, approx. 6 million in the USA, 1.5 million in Israel and approx. 17 million in the subsequent states of the Soviet Union and thus serves the largest ethnic audience in Europe ( Russians ). RTVi is also received via cable in Ukraine, the Baltic States, Belarus and Georgia. The technical reach over all distribution channels of the station is around 35 million viewers worldwide.

Program and story

RTVi stands for a balanced full program with entertainment programs, TV series and feature films in Russian. Several times a day, news reports and special programs from all over the world are presented. The choice of topics and the presentation were objective. In addition to the several daily news programs, the weekly information program Time-code ("Тайм-код"), with Vladimir Lenski, has high ratings among Russian-speaking viewers worldwide.

RTVi is the only television broadcaster for Russian auditoriums in the world that produces its programs outside of Russia.

The station was founded in 1997 by Wladimir Gussinski as "NTV International". Today the RTVi studios are in Berlin, Riga, New York and Tel Aviv. RTVi has offices in Washington, DC , London , Moscow , Kiev , Tbilisi , Yerevan and Chișinău . In Germany, RTVi can be received via satellite and in the chargeable IPTV digital offer “Premium” from Kartina Digital GmbH.

At the beginning of 2017, the station initiated an extensive renovation and presented the new design.

The program Особое мнение ("special opinion") of the Moscow radio station Echo Moskwy (Echo Moscow) is broadcast as a television program in cooperation with the radio station. In September 2016, the new program director Alexey Pivovarov announced an extensive renewal of the station. From spring 2017, the station will be able to be seen by millions of viewers worldwide with its new look.

The Newsmaker's Hour series of specials always includes a conversation with a prominent figure on the international political scene.

Approvals

RTVi is approved in Germany as a full program broadcaster by the Commission for Determining Concentration in the Media Area (KEK). The media authority Berlin-Brandenburg (mabb) published this message. As a result, the station has grown in importance for advertising companies whose target group are Russian-speaking viewers. For years it has held a leading position in this target group.

The RTVi brand is protected by patent.
