R Aquilae is a red giant in the constellation Eagle, about 700 light-years from Earth . It is a variable star of the Mira type , the apparent magnitude of which fluctuates between 5.5 mag and 12.0 mag with a period of currently around 284 days. Its spectral class varies between M5 and M9. He is a triple star . The closer companion is 11.1 mag bright and is located at a distance of 76.6 "to the main star, the more distant companion is a 10.4 mag bright star of the spectral class G0 and 180.7" from the main star.
