Raça Negra is a Brazilian pagoda band from São Paulo .

Raça Negra was founded in 1983 by the singer Luiz Carlos (born February 1, 1957) in the Zona Leste of São Paulo. The group's first name was "A Cor do Samba". They played in their neighborhood Vila Nhocuné and performed very often in the Bar do Coalhada. At first they played the music of other artists with their own samba rhythm. In 1991 Luiz Carlos wrote his first hit, "Caroline". In 1991 the group recorded their first album with the successful songs “Cigana”, “Doce Paixão” and “Cheia de Manias”. She was one of the better-known Samba Paulista groups that were very popular in the late 1980s and early 1990s. This was followed by appearances on television channels in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro . The second LP in 1992 with the hits "É o amor", "Será" and "Pensando em você" was also very successful. The fifth LP in 1994 already brought success numbers of 500,000 records sold. Raça Negra promoted a national anti- AIDS campaign. Raça Negra sold a total of 30 million records in his 27 creative years. The song "É tarde demais" from 1995 is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the most played song in the world in one day. The group Raça Negra reached live concerts of 1.5 million people on a show during the Dia dos Trabalhadores in São Paulo, 700,000 spectators at a concert in the USA and in Luanda / Angola 80,000 spectators on a four-hour show.
