Race War (dt. Race war ) is incorporated about 2000, banned in Germany music group from Schwabisch Gmund that the right rock belongs. The openly neo-Nazi and racist demeanor of the band led to house searches, investigations and a conviction for forming a criminal organization. Race War is the second neo-Nazi band to be declared a criminal organization after the group " Landser " .

history

The band Race War (German: "Race War") has performed at numerous concerts in Germany and neighboring countries since 2001 and quickly became one of the most popular representatives of their genre in southern Germany. The four men, who were around 17 to 21 years old at the time, had some musical experiences from metal bands.

The band is openly committed to Adolf Hitler and the Third Reich in their lyrics, statements at concerts and publications . During a performance at a Blood and Honor Festival in Belgium in 2004 , the front man of the band Max Hirsch sang : “We are Nazis and proud of it” and chanted “ Sieg Heil !” Several times with the audience . In an interview he announced that the band for the “4th Fight Rich ", and in a song text that" our terror attacks will change the world ". Other texts include a glorification of the SS , jubilation over the attack on the World Trade Center , a call for war against Israel and glorification of the neo-Nazi network "Blood and Honor", which is banned in Germany. The cover of their debut CD “The white race will prevail”, released in 2002 on the US neo-Nazi label “Micetrap”, shows a swastika flag . On April 20, 2003, Adolf Hitler's birthday, a special edition with his picture was published.

Investigative and criminal proceedings

In 2002, an investigation was launched against the four founding members. The Stuttgart public prosecutor's office was responsible for the formation of a criminal association and the collective commission of crimes such as sedition and violence, the dissemination of propaganda materials and the use of symbols of unconstitutional organizations , the public invitation to criminal acts , the approval of criminal acts and the denigration of the state and its own Symbols as well as the call to war accused. The four accused should have founded and operated a band, the aim of which was to spread the National Socialist ideology through musical performances and to call for participation in the fight against the constitutional order of the Federal Republic.

The investigation turned out to be difficult at first, as the band members appeared almost exclusively masked with balaclavas and tried not to reveal their identity. The prosecution's justification for the delayed investigation was as follows: “The band members did everything they could to remain undetected by outsiders. They tried to avoid pictures of appearances and the naming of members. ”In right-wing extremist Internet forums, the band name was censored to make identification more difficult, and the band was conspiratorially referred to as“ the Backstreet Boys from the South ”.

After house searches were carried out on all four alleged Race War members in May 2003, two band members got out. The two remaining members continue the project as a duo with guest musicians. This also reduced the number of appearances.

Court ruling

In November 2006, all band members were sentenced to suspended sentences of between 17 months and one year and 11 months before the Stuttgart Regional Court. The former front man received the highest penalty. The four men had confessed. Two of the band members are still active today (2012) under the band name Heiliger Krieg through concert appearances and CD publications. The right-wing extremist texts are now formulated in such a way that they are no longer so easy to punish legally.
