Rachel Khedoori

Rachel Khedoori (born November 20, 1964 in Sydney , Australia ) is an Australian-American artist of Iraqi-Jewish origin living in Los Angeles . It is best known for its mixed use of sculpture, film and architecture.

biography

Khedoori was born in Sydney and grew up in Australia. She is the twin sister of the artist Toba Khedoori and the widow of the artist Jason Rhoades .

Khedoori received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the San Francisco Art Institute (1984–1988) and her Master of Fine Arts in 1994 from the University of California at Los Angeles . In 1996 she was visiting professor at the Art Academy in Malmö , Sweden. Khedoori began exhibiting a joint debut show with her sister Toba Khedoori in 1994. Her first European institutional solo exhibition, which also gained international attention, took place in 2001 at the Kunsthalle Basel and the Kunstverein Braunschweig . Your exhibition in Basel related to films that were projected onto two- and three-dimensional objects. Rachel's work combines life and the abstract use of film, sculpture and architecture. The exhibition visitor, who moves in space, becomes part of her work, which interweaves two- and three-dimensional, lived and dreamed, as well as seen and heard.

Khedoori has lived and worked in Los Angeles, California since 1990 .
