Rachel McLish

Rachel McLish , b. Raquel Livia Elizondo (born June 21, 1955 in Harlingen , Texas ) is an American bodybuilder , actress and author.

Life

McLish attended Pan American University in Edinburgh , where she graduated in 1980 with a degree in physical education and a bachelor's degree in training physiology and nutrition . She started bodybuilding when she was a student. After graduating from university, she founded several fitness studios with a business partner , which she sold the following year.

In addition to Lisa Lyon , McLish was one of the first female bodybuilders to achieve international fame through competitions. In 1980 she won the US Bodybuilding Championships. A few months later she became the first Ms. Olympia, a success she was able to repeat in 1982. In the same year she achieved first place in the World Pro Championships. In 1999 she was inducted into the IFBB Hall of Fame.

After her active bodybuilding career, McLish appeared in several films, published fitness videos and two successful books about her training concept that appeared on the New York Times bestseller list.

McLish now lives in Southern California with her husband, film producer Ron Samuels .
