Rachid Azzouzi (born January 10, 1971 in Fès ) is a former Moroccan football player and current football official .

childhood

Rachid Azzouzi was born in Fez in 1971, but moved with his family to Germany as a child and grew up in the Rhineland .

Career as a player

Azzouzi played for Hertha and Alemannia Mariadorf in his youth . In 1988 he moved to 1. FC Köln . From 1989 to 1995 he was active for MSV Duisburg ; then he went to Fortuna Cologne for two years . In 1997 he finally came to SpVgg Greuther Fürth , where he ended his active career in 2004. Before that, he had played in China for half a year.

In total, he played 260 second division games in which he scored 30 goals. In his 64 Bundesliga games for MSV Duisburg, he scored three times.

In the 2004/05 season he was the coach of the Fürth U-17 youth team. He could not prevent relegation from the B youth regional league.

Azzouzi played for the Moroccan national team , including at the 1994 and 1998 World Championships and at the 1992 Summer Olympics.

Career as a manager

From 2005 to 2007 Azzouzi was assistant to the management in Fürth; after that he became team manager (2007/08) and sports manager (2008 to 2012). For the 2012/13 season Azzouzi became sports director at FC St. Pauli . On December 16, 2014, he was given leave of absence. On June 10, 2015, he signed a two-year contract as sports director at Fortuna Düsseldorf . This collaboration ended after just under a year, on May 25, 2016. On November 22, 2017, Azzouzi returned to SpVgg Greuther Fürth as sports director.
