Alemannia Mariadorf (full name: Sportverein Alemannia 1916 eV Mariadorf ) is a sports club from the Alsdorf district of Mariadorf in the Aachen city region . The first soccer team played in the highest amateur league in the Middle Rhine region for twelve years.

history

The association was founded in 1916. In 1931 Alemannia made it into the second-class 1st district class Rhine and missed qualification for the newly created district class a year later as a runner-up behind Viktoria Kellersberg . After the ascent there, the team reached the promotion round in 1941 and 1944 to the first-class Gauliga Mittelrhein and Cologne-Aachen . The Mariadorfer failed at SV Victoria Köln on the first attempt . Three years later, Alemannia came second behind Sportfreunde Düren . It is not known whether Alemannia Mariadorf took part in Gauliga games in the 1944/45 season.

After the end of the Second World War , Alemannia belonged to the district class from 1947, where three years later it was promoted to the state league , the highest amateur league on the Middle Rhine at the time. After sixth places in 1951 and 1953, he was relegated to the district class in 1954. The deciding game for relegation was lost against Kohlscheider BC in the neutral Übach-Palenberg with 0: 3. After a runner-up behind Viktoria Alsdorf in 1955, he was promoted back to the national league a year later. With the simultaneous introduction of the Mittelrhein Association League, this was only the second highest amateur league.

Two years later, they were promoted to the association league, where Alemannia in 1960 reached their sporting zenith with third place behind SV Baesweiler 09 and Siegburger SV 04 . In 1962 , the Mariadorfer finished fourth again before the team had to relegate to the national league two years later . In 1969 the promotion succeeded before it went back down to the national league two years later. In 1974 he was relegated to the district class. After a short national league guest game in the 1978/79 season, the Alemannia was able to re-establish itself in the national league from 1982. In 1990 he was relegated again.

Since then, the Mariadorfer could only give guest appearances in the national league from 1992 to 1995, from 2002 to 2005, from 2007 to 2009 and from 2011 to 2013. The last descent in 2013 was followed by ascent two years later. In 2017, he was relegated to the district league again.
