The hunting painter was recognized by Arthur Lane in 1934 and confirmed in the revision of the material by Brian B. Shefton in 1956 and the extended investigation by Conrad M. Stibbe in 1972. Alongside the Arkesilas painter , the Reiter painter , the Boreaden painter and the Naukratis painter, he is one of the main painters of the laconic style. In addition to bowls , he mainly decorated hydria , but also lakaina . The clays of its bowls mainly show dance, fight and feast scenes. From the field of mythology, he mainly shows the deeds of Heracles . The name vase , which shows a possibly mythical boar hunt, stands out from the repertoire . Birds and fish are the secondary and filling motifs.
