As a rider painter (English Rider Painter ) is a laconic vase painter of the 6th century BC. Chr. Designated.

The rider painter got his emergency name after depicting a picture with a rider. He decorated various shapes, including Lebetes (dinoi), which were rare for Sparta , but above all bowls . The works were primarily made for export, not one of his works was found in Laconia. The workshop, which has not yet been located, was possibly in one of the Periök settlements . Since painter's manuscripts and peculiarities in the form often overlap, it is assumed that the Reiter painter and the other vase painters of Laconia were also the potters of their picture carriers . In addition to the Arkesilas painter , the Boread painter , the hunting painter and the Naukratis painter , the artist is considered to be one of the five most important vase painters in Laconia, although he is somewhat inferior to the others in terms of artistry. It mainly shows scenes from mythology , such as the dazzling of Polyphemus , Cadmos or Heracles. In addition, he shows images from everyday life such as comasts or the eponymous rider. The works are dated between 550 and 530 BC. Dated.
