Lebes
A Lebes ( Greek λέβης "kettle", plural Lebetes ) is an ancient basin-shaped vessel that could be used for cooking, washing and the like, but also for mixing wine. It was usually made of bronze, silver or clay and could be placed on a tripod or a one-legged stand. The clay specimens are one of the few ancient Greek ceramic forms that were made entirely in one piece. Lebetes were also presented to successful athletes as a trophy.
A special form of life is the so-called Lebes Gamikos ("wedding kettle "), which also had high handles and was set up at the wedding so that the bride could always reach them.
In modern research, Lebetes are often and incorrectly referred to as dinos .
