Epichysis
As Epichysis ( Greek ἐπίχυσις ) a form of ancient Greek pot is called.
Epichysis was used by Apulian ceramists in the 4th century BC. Invented. Characteristic of the form are one of pyxides reminiscent lower vases body from the middle of a high and thin neck coming. The high curved handle attached to the edge is connected to the neck via an arch that extends beyond the spout. At the attachment points there were often plastic decorations, for example in the form of human or animal heads. The narrow spout seems well suited for small dosages. Therefore, one can assume that the Epichyses were used for expensive liquids such as oils or fragrances. These jugs are likely to be seen in connection with the grave cult and burial rituals of the Lower Italian Greeks.
