Lekanis
The lekanis (plural Lekanides ) is a form of the ancient Greek vessels . It is a flat bowl with two horizontal handles attached to the sides. There was also a heavy cover with a knob that could be removed. The use is not entirely secure, the Lekanis was probably used to store food, possibly also oil or the like. Lekaniden were a popular image carrier of Greek vase painting . The Lekane is a similar vessel .
